View Full Version : MY Leased HR10 is Freaking Out
I have a question. I have a leased HR10, and during the past week or so, it has not been working correctly. I get very bad picture quality on my HD Channels (picture breaking up, ghosting, pixel distortion), and when I try to record something the picture just goes black.
Since I pay the extra $5.99 for the protection plan, will they replace the box with a refurbished one, or upgrade me to the HR20?
Thanks!

When I called about a problem with one of my HR10's, they sent me a refurbed HR20.
It was fine by me, but I don't know how you will feel.
Also, I don't pay the extra $5.99.

Your leased receiver is covered under the lease. The $5.99 plan covers everything from the dish up to the receiver. The $5.99 plan might get you free shipping, though (?).
They will replace the HD DVR with an HD DVR. As the HR10s have been out of production for over a year now and, I believe, their supply of them long exhausted, you should expect to get a refurbbed HR20. If you don't already have a 5 LNB dish, you should be getting one of those as well.

Verify that it's actually a bad HR10. What are your signal readings on the 110 & 119-deg satellites? Check the test channels (490, 491, 492, 493, and 494) and let us know what you see. This could be a reception issue with the HD channels.

Also, is the problem on both OTA and SAT channels? What about SD channels?
The pixilation tends to be on my HD Channels (all SAT, I don't have OTA), but the black screen is on both SD and HD channels.
When I get home, I will check my readings!!! :)
Thanks!!

If you get Directv on the phone and set up a service call and the technician declares your HR10 as defective, then they will replace the HR10 with the HR20 free gratis.....................................You may have to pay a shipping charge of around $20.00 though!

My money is on a dying HR10..............
With or without the protection plan you will get the HR20
Ok, sorry, for the delay....wife didn't let me mess with the TV last night. All the test channels came through and stated that they were "Test Channels." My readings for the 110 were (Tran 8 =94, Tran 10 =91, and Tran 12 =94). For 119. they are(Tram 22 = 88, Tran 23 = 47, Tran 24 = 86, Tran 25 = 91, Tran 26 = 89, Tran 27 = 85, Tran 28 = 89, Tran 29 = 0, Tran 30 = 89, Tran 31 = 66, and Tran 32 = 95.
Thanks!!!

Those readings look great. Most likely an HR10 problem then.
