Icing on the dish will cause signal loss and the dreaded "searching for satelite signal" nag.
If you live in an area that commonly ices; I suggest a dish defroster. There are several types available on the market. One applies like a sticker and is in the form of a defrost grid; the other is a piece that clips on the the back of the dish.
In either senario they are power from the ird via coaxial and go inline between your current run and the lnb itself.

It would have to be thick ice to block a signal but it did happen to me about a month back. Got about half inch to three quarter inch of ice. I lost signal on 99 and 103 and some transponders on 101/110/119 (but not all).
I basically squirted it with warm water until the ice melted. Signal all good after that. :) I also took the opportunity to repeak the dish and gained 15 pts on average giving me mid to upper 90s on most transponders. That alone has saved my signal from going out since from heavy snow.
