Device locked up originally on 120 after populating a few series links when the receiver was 2 days old. Locked up after 5 mins consistently after that point. Reformat/Reset/Upgrade to 128 and there are no more lockups. Device is stable. No series links added at this point yet.

Upgrade to 12A, device is again stable for a few days, no series links added yet.

Running 12A for a few days, no problem, trust increasing....then add 3 series links, one HD, three non-HD. Device locks up less than 24 hours after adding series links. Replacement box (called in after original problems) arrives today.

Question is..... should I replace the box, or try to work with what I have? Simple enough, eh? :) Both are refurbs.

There's a glimmer of hope - just opened the new box and it is apparently _not_ a refurb.

On a positive note, I do appreciate all of the component, power, composite, and phone cables I have received due to these hassles ....And the extra remotes! :)

Welcome to the forums! :welcome_s

Good luck!

Without any details to go on (and a strong belief that the HR20 should never lockup except perhaps power glitch), basic stuff:
Are all the cables tight?
Are you using component to connect to the TV?
Native off?
(Doesn't sound like you have more than 30 Series Links)

Cheers,
Tom

Mine is locking up also since the last update. The picture freezes and none of the buttons work so I have to do a reset. It has happened at least once a day if not twice a day. It is actually driving me nuts.

This rates a: that sucks....
You might try a "re-download". Earl suggested this to me & it can't hurt.
I wouldn't live with daily RBRs.

How would I go about a "re-download"? 02468 forced download?

Yes, that's the way to do it.

Yep. You will get a re-download of 0x12a which is the current national release.

I had my first lockup problems under 12a as well. It seems a re-download finally took, and I haven't had it again.
