View Full Version : HR-20 wiring question??
Hi gang, I now have the 5-LNB dish installed with an HR -20 upstairs. Downstairs, I still have my old Sony HD-200 box with just one sat input line. Can I just split that feed for my dual sat inputs for an HR-20 ??
thx,
jk
No. Each input needs a separate line back to the dish, or to an external multiswitch if you are using one. Splitters do not work with satellite coax and signalling.
You can run the HR20 with a single input, however you will only have one satellite tuner available.

That setup may work in the future with the intorduction of FTM, but for now listen to Carl.
Carl,
If your multiswitch is full, can you port a multiswitch off your main M-switch?
Thanks,
jk

Which switch are you using?
A spaun. I don't know the model #..

Depends on the switches involved. If you are upgrading to add a 5-LNB dish and an H20 or HR20, then you could put the new WB68 multiswitch first in line connected to the dish, then use the first 4 outputs of the WB68 to feed your Spaun. Feed all of your non-mpeg4 receivers from the Spaun and use the remaining 4 outputs of the WB68 for the mpeg4 receivers.
You cannot cascade two WB68's. But you can run two WB68's in parallel using wide band power passing splitters to feed the inputs, making sure to associate the same inputs to the same coax on each multiswitch.

You can not split the feeds...however, you can purchase the $19.99 modulator from Radioshack and feed that back to you downstairs tv...just remember to use the super video and the 2 video out wires from the HR20 to the front of the modulator, set it on channel 3, hook up the anetenna wire and your are set to go ...the modulator from Radioshack comes with the super video wires and the component wires needed to hook it up properly to your HR20 or if others are reading this, works with the H20 also....yes, HD programs can be seen, only they will transmit as analog to the tv you are sending the signal to...it works...
If the spaun you have is something like the 41202 or 41602 then I would hope you have enough outputs. These are expensive, but give you 12 or 16 outlets. The Zinwell WB68 that should have been installed with the dish is not cascadeable but gives you 8 outlets. Most standard switchs will not work in the future with the new sats or MPEG 4 locals. They must be able to pass through the Ka/Ku bands
