I love being able to play the music files on my PC through my HR20. The menu also lists Videos and Pictures. Pictures work fine (although the pictures I have aren't worth looking at on a HDTV). Video files will list, but all have a X next to them and none play.
What format do video files have to be in to play over your network on your HR20? I've got AVI, Mpeg, windows media, etc., but have not gotten anything to play. Does the "X" indicate a file that it found but can't play?
Very curious.

The Video feature is not enabled yet.
What you are seeing...is the Media Server is sending the HR20 a "list" of folders. In that list of Folders, one is titled Video.
It isn't until you access that folder, that the HR20 asks the media server for the list of compatible files in that folder.
Yes, the X indicates that file, in that folder is not playable.

Thanks, Earl. After searching and finding no "Video sharing is working" threads I assumed as much.
Any idea if they are working on it? If so, any idea WHEN we'll see it working?
I noticed that one of the files the HR20 listed was a HDTV PBS show that VISTA's Media Center had recorded for me. Couldn't play it, of course. THAT would be ironic if the HR20 could play HDTV off your computer, but your computer couldn't play HDTV shows off your HR20.

Yes, they are definently working on the PC -> HR20 feature.
When... no exact time frames, probably in the next month or so (ballpark).
Actually it is not that Ironic... It is all about the DRMs

I'm eager to see this working but here is an alternative: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=80312
What formats will it support is the real question. Right now I'm encoding all my videos in x264 mp4. I think that is the new standard for video. I thought I saw somewhere that the HR20 supports this format for the DTV streams. Maybe someone can confirm....

It is my suggestion to track down where you found the mentioned information and ask for the details.
I am not aware of any mentioned support type in this forurm. That does not mean it hasn't, but my suspicion is that it was speculation and may not be fact.
