I am a current D* subscriber and Charter cable subscriber. Does anyone have a list of current channels that Dish has that D* does not, both SD and HD?

Well the HD channels would include the Voom (http://www.voom.tv/) channels. I think there are 15 of them.

A&E HD
HGTV HD
Food Network HD
Starz HD
National Geographic HD
NFL Network HD (can't remember if direct got this one or not)
HD News

The rest of the HD channels, HBO, TNT, etc. they both share.

As far as SD channels go I haven't noticed anything that Dish has that direct does not. I'm sure there are some obscure channels unique to dish but nothing I care about.

If it matters I'm pretty sure D* has HBO Latino.

That doesn't seem to be a complete list.

D* does not have "ESPN Deportes" which is on E*, and carries "Champions League" soccer matches that are on not on any other US channel.

D* does not have "WorldSport HD" which is on E*, and carries soccer matches in HD that are not on HD on other channels (and may not be on any other channel at all - I'm not sure).

E* does not have "Setanta Sports USA" which is on D*, and carries various soccer matches not on any other US channel (although E* is still negotiating to carry it).

That's just soccer, which I happen to know about, so there are undoubtedly other differences that are not listed above.

Oh, and D* does not have "HTV" which is on E*, which is an excellent Hispanic Music Video channel.

If it matters I'm pretty sure D* has HBO Latino. If they do they need to advertise it!

My comparison is the "basic" packages through AEP or Premier. There are other 'a la carte' offerings from both services, and I'm glad to see those mentioned in this thread. Some day I'll have to do a Latino comparison.

How about in the near future? I caught in some other thread that Dish's total lineup will be increasing by some 80 channels. (To paraphrase.. "Top 120 will soon be Top 200, Top 180 will soon be Top 250".) It's possible I'm reading too much into this, but does anyone have a rundown of what these new channels will be (if this is correct) and whether or not any of them are going to be freshly exclusive to Dish? And maybe whether or not DTV has any plans to counter with new channels of their own? ;p

The channels are already there - and the package names changed as of February 1st. Except for the addition of the DishCD music channels to AT60 to get AT100, it was just a name change. AT120 already had more than 200 channels, AT180 had more than 250. (And yes, E* counts channels in the same way that D* counts them ... they just have more channels to count.)

Direct TV does not carry HRTV (Horse Racing TV) channel 404.
