I have just upgraded to HD this past week, so I have been spending a bunch of time seeing what is available in HD. I really enjoy watching trailers and I must say some of them look spectacular on my TV in HD.

HDNet has a great show "Nothing But Trailers". I haven't had HD long enough to check this show out over a period of time. How often is this show updated with new trailers?

One complaint about the show though. They should break it into 2 shows. One for kid friendly movies and another for non-kid friendly movies. I was watching this weekend and the trailer for Shrek 3 came on, so I called the kids over to watch. It was great, until the next trailer was for some blood and guts horror movie.

Thanks for any info,
Hunter

I agree with you on this show. We used to watch "Coming Attractions" on E, back in the day.

As far as updates, there's really no rhyme or reason to it. New trailers are basically added to the rotation, much like a radio station with a limited playlist - the hits are in heavy rotation, and the new trailers are slipped in.

Do you mean that a new episode of new trailers will start broadcasting every now and then or do you mean that new trailers will be swapped into the episodes?

i.e. this weeks episode contains trailers for movies A, B, C and D. Will next weeks be E, F, G and H or will it be A, B, E, F?

Thanks,
Hunter

On a day to day, episode to episode basis it is A,B,C,D then A,B,E,D then D,E,C,F - there is no rhyme or reason to the addition or subtraction of trailers, as least as far as I can discern. The same trailers may run for 6 episodes, then several are added to the mix in rotation. It's as if they have a pool of 20 trailers to work with at a given time, with 10 being in heavy rotation, 4 in moderate rotation, 4 in light rotation, and 2 in rare rotation. There is no set "weekly" recalculation of the rotation - it's a constant change, as best as I can tell.

I'm frightened that I've put this much thought into this.

I love this show! I basically record about 4 or 5 episodes and then stop for a few weeks. It seems that if you watch any more than 3, you have pretty much seen most of the trailers.

I watch them all the time this channel is what Home theaters were made for:) I wish they had a classic version that showed older trailers...

I remember how that show got started. Back when HDNet was the only HD channel on DirecTV (4-5 years ago) we had a whole thread going on AVS about how much we really like the trailers they would show at the end of shows as filler. Some suggested that they might be able to have a whole show of just trailers, movie studios might really like that idea of exposure. Sure enough they tried out the idea and now there is a regular show for it. :D

heck - I"m one of those folks that gets to the theater 15 minutes to avoid the trailers...

All the trailers are green-screen, meaning the MPAA authorized them for all viewers (A "G" audience). I don't think I've ever seen them show a red-screen (restricted) trailer.
