be careful changing programming online. i was sitting in front of the HR20/TV last night and i logged into my account online b/c i wanted to add sports pack. i clicked add programming and it brought up the base packages (the new ones). none of the new options were selected (b/c i was still on TC plus), the option that was selected said "keep my existing base package". I clicked next. I added sports pack and clicked finish. i reviewed the options and everything was exactly as it should be: HD package, DVR service, protection plan... etc. i clicked finish to save the changes and my HR20 screen flashed and then it displayed a message saying that DVR service was not active on my account. i waited a minute and pressed List. same message. i logged back in to directv.com and verified that dvr service was on the account. a new recording was getting ready to start in 2-3 minutes so i didn't want to spend 10 minutes explaining the situation to a CSR drone. so i just changed my base package to Plus HD (w/ locals) and saved it.... viola, dvr service is back (just in time for the recordings to start too).

so beware, now that the new packages are in there you could screw up your DVR service. just make sure you are in front of a TV when you make any changes or do it over the phone and make sure they have the correct DVR codes on your account (DVR Plus and/or TiVo).

This happened to me as well. I just called Direct TV CS and they were able to switch it back on. The weird thing is that I did this on Friday and I did not notice until Monday Morning. I have a season pass for Battlestar Galactica and it still recorded it on Sunday Night so I did not miss any of my scheduled recordings.

I wanted to upgrade to the sports pack with my cable, yet they deleted half of my channels, forced me into DVR (which I love SOOO much!) and upped my rates from $60 to $75!!!

i just noticed that my DTiVo devices don't like the Plus HD (w/ locals) package.... they are all saying i don't have dvr service (the HR20 still works fine). had to call D* and have them manually add the TiVo service. what a joke... I feel sorry for the techs if a phone call is required to readd DTiVo service. whomever designed the codes included in these "new" packages isn't the brightest bulb in the box. they sure aren't setting the bar too high at D* these days.
