It's been less than a year since I upgraded and got Dish HD. My current setup is as follows:

We have 3 TV's.

Our Main Movie TV (65" 1080p Mit DLP) - located in movie room. This set usually is only used when we sit down to watch a movie and want the theater effect etc. It's our movie room set. This set has the 622 and the HD Signal. We also use OTA to get our HD downstairs.

Our Casual TV (42" Panny EDTV Plasma) - this in our living room by the kitchen and is the most convienent for TV watching while cooking dinner etc. Also easiest with our newborn. This set has one of the SD DVR units.

Bedroom TV (25" Analog CRT) - Watch rarely. This set get TV2 from the 622 downstairs.

What I've found is we rarely watch our HDTV programing downstairs since we rarely are down there casually watching TV. We watch more OTA since that's what's on in HD but sometimes it's pain to go all the way downstairs and we end up watching our OTA in SD on the plasma.

I'm considering getting another 622 for upstair so I can have OTA HD upstairs and we might watch the HD programming more and I don't feel I'm wasting $$$$.

Can I even upgrade yet?

Or do I have other options to get this all working?

My limitation are that my panny does not have a tuner so I can't run TV2 to it. I could move the 622 upstair on the Panny but could I watch HD on TV2 downstairs.

Or should I just get another 622?

Thoughts?

I've always heard that you can't get 2 VIP 622's. However, when I called up about a week & a half ago after getting my 3rd HD TV in my home, I was sucessful. I told the Dish dude that my contract was up in one more month and if I couldn't at least get 1 more HD DVR receiver in my home to accomodate one of the other 2 TV's that are HD but without a HD Receiver that I'd have to leave to go with Comcast because with them at least I could get the same HD channels that I currently watch on Dish (TNT & Locals) but on all 3 of my HD TV's without kissing a$$.... Oh & I didn't tell him that I hated Comcast either...

They put me on hold for 15 minutes... LOL

The CSR comes back after speaking to his supervisor basically telling us that if we agreed to another 18 months and paid $150.00 that I could exhange the 625 I have for another VIP 622. I took the deal obvoiusly and I even had the receiver at my house in 6 days. The DVR that it was replacing obviously all ready had the correct cables run to it so they shipped it to me. He also offered me a VIP 222 for $99 shipped on top of the 2nd VIP 622. I declined that because I couldn't afford an extra $250 a month...

But does anybody know if I am going to get charged a high fee for this 2nd VIP 622? I have the HD Platinum Package w/ Spanish Bonus. DVR Fees are waived, but are there any other fees I might see in my bill? Besides the $5.99 Dish Home Advantage discount running out next month?

So my opinion is yes... Depending on who you get on the phone, your history with the company, and the expiration of your current contract... You can defiantly get a 2nd VIP Receiver as I am living proof.

If I get TV2 to my 480P plasma how will the 480I HD channels look?

Like Analog cable , maybe slightly better if it is showing an hd show at the time. That is the way it looks on my 26" Toshiba hd tv over coax coming from my 622 in the other room.
