The Kansas City Locals are out as well. And according to the guy on the phone at Dish, Oklahoma was supposed to be out also. Glad I'm not a West Wing fan, but its a good thing this didn't happen during Ed, or they'd get an ear full and something WOULD be done.

Agg! I don't know if this is related or not, but I just checked WSBK, and it was frozen, with the credits from what ever show ended at 9. *sigh* Another missed Twilight Zone :(

Same here. I just switched over to WWOR, which is still working (for me at least).
Of course, if you're getting WSBK as a local rather than part of the superstations package, I guess you wouldn't have that option.

SOB! I chose to reecord on WSBK over WWOR since WSBK has better PQ.
Boston locals out for over 1 hour and still counting
finally got a CSR and they gave me some BS about a hurricane going through the middle of the country (not sure how it made it in this far, and is doing so without any clouds above me) and there is nothing I can do about it.
Suggested I try using off-air channels, but I pay extra to not have to use an antenna so why would I have one.
1/2 of West Wing is done... I hate being this mad and nothing they can do about it. GRRRRR
Woow just checked after posting the actualy have a message on the screen saying they having problems. Never seen that before!

WSBK is blank, no slate. Any of the other Bostons have that slate up?

I'm betting that Dish Network's equipment that RECEIVES the local channels from each market is the source of this problem. It doesn't seem to be isolated to a single area. The link from DISH to us is obviously good, and I can't imagine that so many local tv stations had transmitter problems all at once.

The only place that all these signals come together is at the up-link in Cheyanne. I checked the weather out there. 45 degrees, cloudy and 7 mph winds. Certainly not "hurricane" weather as the CSR is leading us to believe...

Yes there is - Isidore coming up the Gulf of Mexico, but I don't think that explains this

Duh ! - This is EXACTLY why I have an OTA setup running as well. On some channels, I actually get better PQ from OTA, over Dish. It's just that Dish LIL is more convienent.

Only way I see hurricane stoping LIL is if the fiber network they use to ship the LIL to uplink is going through the hurricane path.
It is possible that this could be the case.

Well, they were back this morning, so whatever the problem was, it's cleared up for now...

Not unless Echostar has their main local channel up link in the middle of the Gulf Of Mexico because when all the locals went out on Wed AM, that is where the hurricane was
Dish has had a lot of problems lately and they are about to escalate when the merger fails and Rupert M. takes control of DirecTV.
I have a feeling that all the dealers that were charmed into only selling Dish Network equipment over the years ( not to mention the 1000,s that could not qualify to be a DTV dealer ) are going to be very sorry in the not to distant future.

That's explains why I got only Enterprise and not TZ last night off WSBK. I then recorded TZ off the local UPN (Sacramento) station, but only got 54 minutes, so there must have been some uplink outages..
Did anyone gripe and yell enough to get some sort of credit. Or do they ever do that for anyone?
I was pissed and called and the guy just said it was the hurricane thing and the uplink couldn't get through and they were trying to transfer data to a diferent uplink center but they were having problems doing that also but would be up soon. SO I didn't bitch to much. but then it still wasn't on hours after that I thought I would call and gripe but will it do any good?

How can a huricane which is headed for Luisiana effect the uplink in Chyanne Wyoming? And besides that only the locals were effected last night, none of the other channel such as HBO, USA, TNT etc.
I have emailed Echostar and asked for a comment about the outtages for tonights newscast.
actually, it was a large group of canadians drunk and belching southward that caused the problem...

I was just watching that newscast that this site does and they reported that Dish Network officials claimed there was no outtages last Wednesday Night. What were they watching, over the air cable?? And did the screen that came up and said, "We are experiencing technical difficulties" with the Dish logo in the background, just magically appear??? I can handle a technical issue here and there, but what I can't stand is blantant lying by the company. As soon as my contract is up I'm going to check out Direct TV's services. I was all for this merger because of the hopeful better picture quality on locals, but after this stunt, I think competition between the companies is a much better thing. It just looks like Dish is becoming more shady everyday.
