View Full Version : Called today, supposed to get HR20 Monday???

I called D* a few days ago complaining about my HR10 rebooting more and more (a couple of times in an evening). I knew the drive was probably going bad. They agreed to give me a new HR20 and a 5LNB dish for free. (At this point the dish is meaningless since my locals aren't up in HD yet). Anyway they said the earliest installation date was 3/23. I have read there are HR20 shortages so that didn't surprise me.
Well today when I get home the old HR10 is stuck at the Powering Up screen... So I called D* to see if they could just ship me the HR20 and they say no that since they are replacing my HR10 with an HR20 an installer has to "install" the DVR. However they could have an installer come on Monday Feb 26.
Now my question is: what are the odds of the installer actually having an HR20 on Monday. Is there any place I can call this weekend to find out. I would hate to take a day off work for nothing.

3/23 is one month away, not one day away.

Which Monday?
If it is next Monday, seems like D* is again out of stock as they could not replace the bad box that they installed for me two days ago.

I neglected a very important piece of info. When I called TODAY they said that they could reschedule for Monday Feb 26.

It's too bad that it comes down to the area you're in.

yeah, I forgot to mention, seems like it is California's problem. You might be able to have it.
Good luck.

Well I stayed home yesterday waiting for for HR20. I got a call around 9:30 telling me they didn't have any HR20's in stock. But "the truck should run Thursday so I'll reschedule you for next week". That was after they called me Sunday to "confirm" the installation.
Since I don't have a lot of faith in "the truck" I decided to run diagnostics on my dead HR10's hard drive. When both diag programs gave the disk a clean bill of health I purchased an Instantcake CD image. Loaded it on the disk and the HR10 is back up and running (for now anyway).
I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms from not recording HD for several days.

Well the rescheduled install is supposed to happen this morning. I called D* yesterday to try to find out if they really have the HW. Supposedly they do. Nothing so far this morning.
