View Full Version : How have various software releases performed for you?

Satisfaction is a personal thing, but I'm curious at what point the satisfaction level was reached for most people. For some we are not there yet, for others, you may have recently gotten the HR20 so your choices are much more limited.
Thinking back, mark all of the firmware releases that, in your mind, deserved a C or better. If a particular firmware version performed poorly for you or made you want to throw the HR20 in the river, then don't check that box.
I've included a box for "it's not there, yet" so that if you have given it a poor grade, then you can still vote.

You expect me to remember that far back?

All releases have been good for me except one of the earlier ones, around late September or early October, that broke a lot of stuff.

I'm being mean, since I haven't had one "never" miss or have an unwatchable recording.
Current CE locked up last night after only two days.
A "C" to me means average, in that it works as it should, no better, no worse. Being able to record what it should, would be average.
Sorry, I'm not there yet. :)

Fair enough.

For a "C" grade only two releases have qualified (10b and 132 CE). 132 would be upgraded to an "A" if they enabled CIR. So far, 132 is the first release not to pre-cancel any of my one touch recordings, but it has only had a few days to work its evil so far.

It's got to be as reliable as my Adelphia Moxie DVR. And it's not there yet, hence my none of the above vote:bang

The good news is that 0x12a is doing well in the poll.

What remember? who am I ? good thing I have a drivers license, has name and address on it
If 0x132 continues to perform as it has so far, it will be the first version for me that I've had for more than a day or two that hasn't failed to properly record and play back at least one scheduled recording. For a commercial DVR, thats my "C" level performance benchmark. (I'm willing to ignore Pinky, tearing, padding tick quirks, and similar primarily cosmetic flaws.)
To get a B, it has to be reliable and add at least some features with meat on them (two or more of VOD, DLB, remote programming via the 'net, etc.).
To get an A, it needs to have all of that, plus elimination of most of the cosmetic issues (Pinky can stay :D) as well as "nice to have" features like PPV authorization via the 'net, increased prioritizer limits, improved searching, etc.

Still a couple of more days to vote. The CE version is 0x132 OR 0x134 which was just released nationally.

Please see the screen cap for my vote (too lazy this morning)
I will say this though, with releases prior to 10b, I was happy then but in retrospect it was way too twitchy. With releases 10b-119 I just had troubles. Since then it's gotten better every time.

Never checked mine for updates. Had both HR20's for 2 weeks and absolutly NO problems with either. :D :D :D
