Is there any way to network the hr20 to a pc so I can burn my saved shows to DVD before erasing them? I know that I can network to view pics and listen to music on my tv, but does this also give my pc the ability to recognize the hr20's harddrive?

No. First, the video fuction of the networking is not active. Second, don't expect to be able to move shows to your PC for buring. You can always use video capture on your PC to get the video, but a raw dump should not be expected. The HR20 is a DRM machine. There is talk about sharing recodings between HR20'sbut not what you are asking. Sorry.

My understanding was that they were considering some sort of an implementation of a "TiVo-To-Go"-type service, hence the USB port on the front panel. That will only come after things like stability and DLB's are tackled however.

It has nothing to do with being able to share files between receivers or computers though. It appears to be a system like Dish Network's DishPlayer where a hand-held multimedia player can download an SD program from a receiver and play it back.
