View Full Version : Sudden Pixelation Problems on MPEG-4 Channels

I've had my HR20 for a few months and until recently have had only very minor pixelation problems (e.g., maybe once in an hour episode and even that only lasted about a second). However, in the last few days I've started experiencing terrible pixelation where about half of a show is unwatchable, although it is somewhat sporadic. There are some shows where these is no pixelation at all and others where it is terrible. I've checked my signal strength and it's in the high 80's to low 90's, although I assume it must be jumping somehow or else I wouldn't have this pixelation. I'm pretty sure it is not the network feeds since others in my area (NY) are not experiencing these problems. Could this be the HR20? Does anyone else have any thoughts?

BTW - I've been on the phone with D* and incredibly (or maybe not, based on some other things that I've read), I've spent the last half hour trying to convince a level 2 technician that my MPEG-4 stations are not channels 80 etc, but are channels 2, 4, 5 and 7. The technician wouldn't believe me and instead switched me to a supervisor.

Try an RBR it may fix it.

I'll give that a try. Do you think it could be the HR20 itself? I again checked my signal strength and on the MPEG-4 transponders the lowest was 80 and the highest was 96. There was no significant wind when I was having the problems and anyway I've had the unit for 4 months and just started having the problems.
