I know their was an explosion on the ship that was set to launch one of the new Directv satellites. Just wondering what the status of the launches now for the 2 new sats?
Thanks!

Things are still on track for the first one..
Estimate lauch time frame is May-ish
For the 2nd... still an unknown on any changes to it schedule due to SeaLaunch
How long after they launch do you think the HD stuff will be up and running?
What's the trend been in the past with availability? I guess it will be slightly different though with HD stuff.

The GUESSES here (and they ARE all guesses) have ranged from a low of 2 months to a high of 6 months.

Wow, I hope it's not the 6month end of those guesses. I don't know about waiting til Nov/Dec. YUCK!

Estimate lauch time frame is May-ishThe story that came out shortly after the failure was that DirecTV 10 was scheduled for a June launch. It was reported by Craig Moffett of Bernstein Research.

Yeah, a lot of people are guessing but there has been nothing really authoritative released, which is why there are different estimates. A lot of factors and players are involved--Boeing, Directv, the launch site, etc. We probably won't know anything definititive until shortly (a month or less) before it happens.
What's the trend been in the past with availability?Spaceway 1 took six days sort of six months and Spaceway 2 took five months. Both may have had extenuating circumstances that delayed their handoff. I'm still trying to confirm whether or not DirecTV 9S has been handed off yet or not as it was the most recently launched satellite.

Jet Propulsion Labs launch calendar still indicates May. Echostar 11 and Spaceway 3 have been rescheduled. Echostar 11 has slipped to Sept. and Spaceway 3 has slipped to July. Both were scheduled for earlier Sea Launch launches. Directv 11 is still scheduled for Sept.
