So what's a guy to do? The installer's work order shows 2 HR-20s, I only ordered one. Do I take the extra one?

Yes use as a backup

just make sure he is not going to try to charge you for it. you better snatch it up though, especially if it is for free

See what the charge is for it. If it's nothing extra over what you already are being charged then take it if you'd like a backup, extra storage or want it on another TV.
