I got a letter from D* today thanking me for participating in the priority registration for the HR20 and activating one (I've actually activated two). To show their appreciation, they included 12 PPV coupons, 2 each for the next six months, valued at up to $3.99 each. Been a while since they've sent me something like this. I don't watch many PPV movies since the HD offerings are so limited, but will check whatever's showing now, since they're free.

Anyone else get a Thank You like this?

I got an e-mail today saying select a gift. I could pick $5 of per month for 12 months -$60 value, 24 PPV - $95 value, or 6 free months of Showtime - $72 value. I picked the $5 off, but I think the fine print bought me a new 2 year commitment. As long as Directv has ST and March Madness, I am not going anywhere, so it doesn't matter. The e-mail said it was because I was such a good customer - subscriber since 1995. I have an R15, no HR20.

It was just the way to sign up for the HR20 back when they were on backorder. You had to wait until D* called you back to say they were available so they could set up an installation date.

I got something similar last fall when they had to reschedule my installation because of the lack of an available HR20. They only included 1 PPV coupon in the letter they sent me apologizng for the inconvience. Since I pay my bill online I wasn't sure how I would get credit for the coupon so I never used it.

You can always still mail in the coupon if you've purchased a PPV showing that month and they will give you credit, even if you have autopay with credit card enabled.

So the PPV movie will actually cost you $.39, or half that if you purchase two and mail both coupons together.
