Just want to kiss ass before question and say I'm learning alot from this site about Dish and everyone seems very helpful.

Here is my question(s)

1. My 2 TV's are on opposite sides of my Condo with no attic. In Dual mode since the receiver is in one room do I need to run the coax cable all the way from the back of the receiver to the second TV?

2. How does the remote control the second TV with no Receiver?

3. If I decide to leave the 622 in single mode on one TV and leave my 510 in the other room and I'm going to need a second dish?

This is confusing and reading through the FAQ's is not making it clear.

I will try to hrelp.

1. Normally you would runa coax to the second TV. you could also try a wireless transmitter. Radio shack an other retailers sell them. They require a transmitter at one location and a receiver at the other.

2. the second remote is a UHF remote. therefore line of sight is not required. It will go through walls.

3. No. One dish can feed two receivers.

Thanks for answering. I surely don't want a lot of cable running along the ceiling a wireless transmitters seem sketchy. As long as one dish can run a 510 and a 622 in single mode then I'm good with that.

One more question. If/when I go with a 622 will they need to replace my Dish 500 with a Dish 1000?

You will need a Dish 1000 (+ or .2 or whatever they call them this week) or a second dish if you want to get the HD channels. I assume you do since you picked the 622 receiver.

I do want the HD channels but I don't want a second dish since my Condo HOA will probably frown on it. I'd also like to keep it as clean as possible since I'm on the first floor and the dish is mounted to my patio wall. It looks like to 1000 will be the way to go for me.

You will need a Dish 1000 (+ or .2 or whatever they call them this week)Those are 3 different dishes. The 1000 and 1000.2 both receive 110/119/129. The .2 version is a bit larger with a one-piece 3-LNB head with integrated DishPro Plus switching for 3 receivers (the 1000 comes with a DPP Twin for 2 receivers). Either will be fine for Amon37. The + version is larger yet and is only needed for the few markets that have HD locals on 118.75 or some internationals.

I'd like to followup if I may with a related question.

I've got the same rough setup as what the OP is contemplating; 622 and a 510. 622 has been in service for 6 months. I'm thinking about putting the 510 back in service.

Question is will I need a separate run from the dish for the 510, or can I split the line already in place and route one side to the 510?

Also I'm assuming I will incur another DVR fee for the 510. Is that true? Any other fees I'm missing?

You can't split the line from the dish as each receiver needs to be able to select the sat required for the displayed channel. Each receiver must have their own cable from the dish or from a switch.

Some additional questions on the dual tunner. I'm a Directv subscriber, but looking to switch to Dish Network in order to upgrade to HD with DVR. From reviews I've read, Vip622 is superior to Directv's HR20.

Regarding the dual tuner, I've read that the Vip622 has three tuners. For the HD TV, it would use one satellite tuner and a OTA tuner. The second TV would use a standard satellite tuner.

As I understand, on the HD television, you could only record from the one satellite receiver and the OTA tuner. I.e., I couldn't record two programs over satellite (non OTA channels) on the HD television.

All three tuners can record HD. If you have OTA you can record three SD or HD programs at once. Without OTA you can record two sat SD or HD programs at once.

The second TV would use a standard satellite tuner. No, TV2 gets a standard resolution output. Both the Sat1 and Sat2 tuners, as wells as OTA, are fully capable of tuning and recording HD.

Both TV outputs can view any recording sourced from any tuner at any resolution. Anything viewed on the TV1 output will be up-converted to the resolution of your choice (until we get the native pass-through option). Anything viewed on the TV2 output will be down-converted.
