View Full Version : NBA HD games on ch 95
Can someone clarify whether the NBA games that are sometimes broadcast on ch 95 supposedly require someone subscribe to NBA League Pass or not ?
I of course do have the HD package. I do not have NBA league pass. I do get the regular NBA channel, 601.
Sometimes the NBA HD games on ch 95 are available to me (even if not my local team.) Sometimes I get message 721, that the channel is not purchased.
I don]t know if its a mistake that I sometimes get them, a mistake that I sometimes do not, or if this is somehow all as expected.
Any clarification would be appreciated. Thank you.

Good question, it's very confusing how they decide who gets the games in HD. I have nba league pass and the HD pack but i don't suscribe to the sports pack, sometimes i'll get the game in HD on channel 95 and sometimes not. I've seen games on nba tv on channel 601, that said the game was being televised in HD, but when i checked channel 95 the game was not on in HD. I believe some of your local teams games maybe shown in HD, but not always.
I do not have League Pass but I do get certain Suns games on Ch. 95 when it is on my RSN.

If the game is being shown on NBA TV then subscribers to the sports pack will get the game. If the game is from your local rsn or you have the league pass you will get the others.

Sorry, but I'm still confused then. I'm in the Boston Market, have sports pack, and HD package.
Last night the Celtics played the Rockets on FSNE my local RSN, in a game at the TDBN Garden produced as usual in HD. I was flipping between NESN-HD Sox spring training game and the Celtics.
I have the SPORTS PACK but not League Pass. Sometimes these games are available in HD on 96 -- the RSN HD channel. Not 100% of the time but frequently.
But last night no game....just music and a DTV logo. Channel 95 was not available-black screen.
So, is this because the games I did see in HD this season were simultaneously on NBATV and RSNE, and thus available in HD on 95 or 96?
Or was it a case last night of someone not throwing a switch?
No big deal but I am curious if I should be giving DTV a call on nights when the Celtics meet the criteria for HD without League Pass.

We are supposed to get the game if it is on NBA TV (if they decide to put it up).
We are supposed to get the game if it is on your local RSN AND it is being fed from your local RSN. If the camera feeds are from the opposing team's RSN, they black it out.
This is not official. Merely my $.02 learned from trying to watch Laker games off 95.
i don't understand.... nuggets v. bulls is on nba tv tonight and the guide data for channel 601 says its in HD... what gives?
I don't think D* has the bandwidth to broadcast every HD game that's available right now. (for example, they are only promising up to 10 HD games per week for MLB Extra Innings SuperFan, even though there will obviously be many more broadcast.) I would expect many more games to be broadcast when they get the next satellite up and running this summer/fall.
I do agree it's confusing. You may see a game on NBA TV on 601 that is supposed to be in HD, and then you see the same 2 teams on 95. However, it's possible the broadcast on 95 is a local RSN, so if you don't have LP, you won't be able to tune it in. I wish they would put the broadcaster in the info box for games on 95, 96, etc.

Directv does not pick up all NBA TVHD feeds. Versus HD has priority and as evident with tonight's Nuggets-Bulls game they just did not pick up the feed. I also have HD with local cable and the NBA HD telecast as always is picked up by the INHD channel. Otherwise Sports PAK/"HD Access" subscribers will receive NBATV HD telecasts when available by Direrctv on channel 95. Only NBALP subs will receive ( NON NBATV) selected HD telecasts on channel 95. The arrangement is similar for the NHL for Versus/NHLCI. Please note: Directv does not have agreements with all RSN's for local HD feeds which would appear on channel 96. Here in the NYC area, content from cable owned MSG/FSN are not made available to satellite, while YES and SNY have FULL TIME HD channels on Directv.
