Weather Channel HD is nothing new. D* let that cat out of the bag at CES back in January. It was confirmed by TWC in February, 3 weeks after D* said they were going HD. Glad to hear ESPNews will be going HD, get to see HD highlight clips over and over :)

i know this might be off topic, but i just noticed that channel 77 HGC HD is also on channel 95 as sneak peek in the guide? does this mean that maybe D* is testing for a new HD feed?

I see it on Channel 98 on my HR10-250, interesting regardless!

I believe channel 77 is just a shortcut to channel 95. Just like for HBOHD and SHOWTIMEHD on 70 and 71. Its because they are using that channels bandwidth to show the NGC sneak peak.

The Weather Channel? Seriously? Why?
Because of all the documentaries they show. Besides, why not?

It is interesting that Directv is the launching pad for many HD channels. Without D* stepping up and agreeing to carrage of these new channels, I don't think they would be launching. Don't see Dish stepping in to take the lead. Dish follows.
