Well my install date is finally here. I am waiting for the D* "person" to come between 8-12. D* is installing a HR20, new dish and a new multi-switch for no charge.
I will take some before and after pictures to post here once everything is done if anyone is interested.

How do I tell if the dish is grounded or not? My dish is installed on my garage roof, and goes to a powered 6X8 multiswitch.

All 4 feeds from the dish should run through a grounding barrel connector which then has a 12-14 gage wire to a ground rod. The dish should also be tied to that same wire.
I had DTV out 4 times and they still couldn't get it right. They ended up using about a 16-18 gage wire and grounded it to the plastic PVC pipe which the phone service comes into our house in.

Wolffpack,
So your system is not grounded properly since it is going to the PVC pipe and no wire that is Cad Welded to the ground Rod.
Directv will be out in two weeks ( need ground to thaw) to install the ground to the halo ground around my house. They also needed to get the cad weld shot to make the connection. I have been going after the installing company for Directv to make sure that the Slimline dish is grounded properly since it is a metal dish. The installers that they use have no clue about grounding.
What subscribers should know is that the dish and cables need to be grounded seperately. In the town where I live you need to take out an electrical permit ( No Cost) to install the Dish Grounding. As usual the original installer was trying to install the ground to the cold water pipe inside the basement with out a grounding block and only to the Zinwell Switch.

I ended up fixing mine on my own.
A good number of installers are really something else. When the original mover's connection guy was finished there was a ton of RG6 "poop" out in the street where he sat and stripped all the cables. Just a lack of knowledge and professionalism.
