Verizon was offering D* with it's DSL subscription.
I had Fios (internet-ony), moved, and had to go with DSL until they fiber up my new development. I plan on getting Fios when it comes in for internet access.
But then I hear about this Fios TV, and I got to wondering how Verizon is going to pull that off. Do they have a deal with D* whereby D* offers the content over Verizon's fiber?
I love my D*, and I don't want to switch. I just want to know what my options are as a Verizon customer and a Direct TV customer.
I can understand your concern/interest. Are you already maintaining/paying for your D* account through Verizon? If so, you could call to see if any kind of deal is offered allowing you to couple your D* & FIOS services.

No...D* is independent of Verizon.
I actually wanted to lose the dish on my house and go with the fiber tv, as long as I'm still getting D* content. Does that make sense?

No, FiOS tv is a totally separate service from DirecTV. If you switched to it you would no longer have DirecTV. Also you need to see if it's available to you (there are areas where the internet service is available, but not their TV service) go to Verizon's website. Verizon does still have an agreement w/DTV, and if FiOS tv isn't available to you, you'll be given the option to get DTV through Verizon when you put your phone # in on the website. You can check out what FiOS tv is all about on their website as well.

Don't you mean Verizon?

Gotcha.
No, your programming would be provided by Verizon, not D*, if you go with FIOS.

Yes, FiOS TV is Verizon's TV service. It's not DirecTV over fiber, which is what I think you were asking about. If you want DirecTV, you need the dish.
Verizons relationship with directv is a strategic partnership which enables verizon to offer a triple play option until until they have an area cabled with fiber and they also have a franchise with the local municipality to offer tv. Many areas have the fiber in place and they offer high speed internet (15mb), but without the video franchise they cant offer tv. They are ready in many of their central offices to offer both tv and internet, but again they need the franchise. There is much behind the scenes lobbying going on to get a national franchise agreement and speed their tv rollout. They will be offering the best in class of tv service because their bandwith is not limited because of the fiber directly to the subscribers house. At this time all rebroadcasters IE cable companys, satellite companys are often limited by the signals they recieve form the content providers. I have seen hdtv on a good hdtv lcd at the co connection and the pq is stunning.
