Well, yesterday I got my HD upgrade installs. I had ordered the HD which required my to get the new AU9 Slimline dish, a new multiswitch, and a HR20. The installer comes to my house and says the only thing on his work order is to install my HR20 and move the tivo to another room. This is about half the order. Anyway, I explain to him what the install is and luckily he is a good guy. He had all the required equipment in his truck and performed the complete install. Great install. As he is leaving I get another call from another installer who says he was coming to my house to install a new dish and multiswitch. Ok, so now my head hurts. I explain to him that the install was already performed. He sounded pissed, but whatever. I firmly believe that the problems people are having with some of the installs are Directv's fault because apparently the really can screw up work orders. Just wanted to share, very odd. Also, about ten minutes after the installer left, my locals disappeared. Took a 30 minute phone call to get them back. Other than the that, the install was good enough for me.

Consider yourself lucky...Lots of folks can't even get one installer on a paticular day, you had two wanting to show up. Oddly, the 2nd guy did say install a dish.
It's my understanding that when an install for HD and an HR20 that a 5-LNB is automatic.

Gald it worked out for you in the end. Enjoy.

Yeah it was real odd. It seemed like the first guy should have been the second guy, but he came first and ...

Ok, I have had HD with the new dish and dvr for a week now. Up until yesterday we have had great weather here in the Baltimore area. Yesterday I came home to watch the tournament and there was some rain. The wind was nonexistant in my opinion. I have no HD locals. My 110,103, and 99 sat. signals are all below 60. It appears as though the dish install was done poorly. Should rain ever cause this many problems. It started out as real bad pixelation and has turned into a searching for signal 771 message. I hope this is what I signed up for.

When I upgraded to HD a year ago I ended up having to buy the meter and align the dish myself. None of the installers followed the instructions that came with the dish regarding the dither adjustment. Once I learned how to do it myself and remounted and aligned the dish properly I have not had any problems.

What is and how much is the meter.

Call D* and tell them your problem they should send a tech back to solve your problem. All your birds shoudl be in the 90's. If your dish is set right rain should be no problem.

You and I both have different definitions for the word "fiasco".

I got in contact with the local installer company and they said they were having a lot of cancellations today because of the weather. She told me she would call with in an hour to let me know if they could get out today instead of next week. Twenty minutes later there was a tech at my door. He checked out my signal strength and verified that it was a crappy alignment. Went out on the roof in the rain and fixed it up good. I am all 90s +. That is what I call customer service.

Come on now. That is the Penn State Nittany Lion. I live in Maryland, but my heart is in PA. The terrapins stink as their performance this weekend showed.
