View Full Version : Missing even transponders off 101
Okay, this is my first post so be gentle. We've been DTV subscribers since 1999. I have installed all of my own systems. We had a c-band system back in the 80's. I've got the 3sat Channel Master dish with 3 separate lnbs. 6 different receivers activated, from an HR10-250 in the family room to a HR-20 in the theater and four various SD receivers through the house. Turned on today and we are missing all of the even transponders off 101. Will an lnb just die? They've been up there since '03 or so. We haven't had any weather events in the past few days. Any help would be appreciated.

Will an lnb just die?
Yep. It could also be your multiswitch.

Welcome to the forums! :welcome_s
Impressive resume! Good on ya.
Another possibility is water shorting out the connection for the evens.
Cheers,
Tom

Yep. You're right. I didn't think about the multiswitch. Its a BM-58. It's been in the attic for years. I guess I need to get out the meter and see if I have signal on all the lines from the dish.
Thanks guys.

What you're not getting is 13 volts to the dish. 18 volts gets you the even transponders & 13 volts get you the odd.
I had this with a loose cable connection.
Loose, wet, bad connector/cable...are what I'd look for. Do you have another receiver and/or location to use to test?

I'm certain you meant to say that 13 volts gets the odd transponders and 18 volts gets the even.

Umm, thanks. I get the idea. Unless it's the LNB itself. Try this on. It came on last night sometime and was working normally when I went to bed. This morning - not so good. Now if I can just find my meter. I hope it's the multiswitch heating up in the attic. But I suspect that I wouln't have the evens on 119 and 110.
And while I'm typing this -- it comes back on. Great, this is gonna be fun to diagnose. Looks like its time for an upgrade.
I want to say thanks to you guys for jumping in and trying to help. I hope I have the opportunity to return the favor sometime.

Bad wire - bad switch - bad LNB. Listed by probability.
