I'm looking to switch back to D* after being with Comcast for the last miserable 18 months. I will need two HD-DVR's and a third STB for my room. The best I can get is the $299 for each with a $100 rebate on one of them and the CSR's offered an additional $10 off for 10 months. Have any of you been able to do better than this?

I tried asking for an extension of the free HBO past the initial 3 months but they said they could not do that.

Appreciate any help you can give.

Breadmanben,
I think that deal you are getting is the best deal unless you are intending on getting a HDTV. Best Buy is running a deal where you get new customer promotions and an additional $150 off when you purchase a 37inch HDTV with DIRECTV HD service. That deal would be better but only if you need an HDTV. Also Costco is starting to sell DIRECTV service. Their deal is free shipping/handling on equipment, HD-DVRs are $269.99 a piece and you get a $50 cash card from DIRECTV for Costco purchases. Since DIRECTV is willing to give you the $10 a month additional discount (which is basically a $100 in value) it is pretty close to being a wash (Costco value to you would be $110 dollars, $50 gift card and $60 off two HD-DVRs). It is your call but since Costco is signing customers up through the same system that a CSR would your installation would take the same amount of time.
Also as a side note I don't know if the CSR (customer service rep) told you no matter where you get the equipment it is still leased which means if you leave service DIRECTV get the old equipment back if you leave service. The upside is if equipment fails all you have to pay to get a replacement box is shipping/handling instead of having to pay full price for a replacement. Also if upgrades are availabile (from what I understand about the lease program) there will be a cheaper option (not free, but discounted from what I have heard) to get into a new generation of equipment. So over all lease is cheaper than ownership especially with DVRs (I have had one DVR replaced already, I use my DVR a lot!!!!). Hope this is helpful to you.
