View Full Version : "Service Connectin" VS "Service Data Download"?

I have an HR10-250 that hasn't made the "service connection" call successfully since November 19th. However when I go under the System Info I see that the "service data download" was last attempted and successfully made yesterday (3/10).

What's the difference between the 2 and why would one work every time and the other one not work in months?

Confused n00b....help!

The "Service Data Download" is done every night. This is when it gets the "Tivo Service Download" data to keep channels etc up dot date.
The Service Connection" is when it actually connects via the phone line.

The Service Data Download is from the satellite.

"Service connection" is only needed for software upgrades. Which your HR10 should have gotten 6.3c for DST. Is your phone line connected?

It's connected, but hasn't successfully made a call since November.

I still have 6.3a but my time is correct and it says I'm on DST under system info.

If everything is working for you, hey, don't mess with it. If the phone call hasn't worked, may be a problem with the phone line running to your Tivo. Do you get a dial tone there?
