Ok, so I recently took advantage of the 622 deal. So far, I'm very happy with the 622, everything seems to just run so much faster (program guide, switching between channels, etc etc), in part because my 921 was dying - required a daily reboot, slow as molasses when bringing up the guide or DVR recordings.

Anyway, from what I understand, the 921 is close to obsolete anyway given that it doesn't support MPG4. I paid $999 for the thing when it first came out. Dish said that I could send it back for a $100 credit. Is that really my best choice, or is there a market for these things?

Thanks.

If it is dying, you really won't be able to get too much for is anywhere else. If it was in good working order, you may be able to get close to about $300. If it dies completely, you won't get anything.

The problem with selling it is that Dish has been getting more and more reluctant to activate these for customers. That is, even if you sell it to someone, Dish may not want to activate it for them, particularly if they aren't grandfathered in with existing non-MPEG4 equipment.

Hence, sad though it may be, sending it back to Dish for the $100 credit may be the best bet. I too was dismayed at the quick loss of value, but this was ultimately the route I went with.
