Just got our 6000u receiver last night and had Dish turn it on. WOW, is about all I can say. The Dish HD demo was the first to come up with some video footage that was obviously filmed on HD video, and it was excellent. HBO HD is excellent too, . . . you can tell the difference between film based and video based sources.
Anyway, I then asked the Dish operator to turn on CBS-HD out of NYC (I live in the Boston DMA), and you would not believe what I went through. For the most part, she stuck to her script '. . . you don't qualify for distant locals, therefore I the system wont allow me to turn this on for you, . . . but I can request a waiver if you would like'. After explaining to her over a dozen times that I should qualify for CBS-HD feed and asking her to talk to someone else there that might know better at least 3 times, I got switched over to her supervisor. He said the same thing.
Anyway, after walking him through Dish's own web site on CBS-HD, the qualification procedure for CBS-HD, and 1 more, '. . . can I put you on hold so that I can ask someone else . . .' he finally came back and said, 'yes, you do qualify for CBS-HD. He then came up with something about them changing the rules recently and we are not all aware of all the changes. Needless to say, CBS-HD is now turned on and is a nice addition. This all took about 45 mins, but it was worth it.
Others that live in one of the 17 DMAs with a owned and operated CBS station that want CBS-HD, you may need to be persistent when requesting it. I'm sure it all depends on whom you get on the other end when you call.
HDTV is GREAT!
