So here I am, posting on DBS talk. I would have never dreamed that I would be allowed to do this as Dish Network employees are strictly forbidden (I'm sure JDH will read this soon enough.) But now that I am away from the shackles that bind, this could be fairly interesting! Let me know if you would like credentials...

Let me know if you would like credentials...The best credentials are honest accurate answers and posts that are helpful. We already know that CSRs know everything :D ... so there is no need to work too hard to impress us. :)

I really don't have any burning questions other than new content we don't know about yet. ;)

To be painfully blunt... there's nothing an actual Dish employee could answer in a public forum like this, that Dish wouldn't answer already. Anyone giving up "secret" info is likely to be fired.

I hear ya there. I understand that there is quite a bit of information on this thread. When I worked for Dish, I read this forum quite regularly to ensure that I wasn't missing out on any issues that were occuring under my nose. That being said, I value good, accurate information more so than you can imagine. Content questions are always up in the air. They are usually 'internal' for atleast a week before going 'external' for the general public to see. Are there any BETA users on this forum? If so, do they have the rights to view channels that have not yet gone external?

Employees are strictly forbidden to post on this forum or any other - secret or the otherwise. I don't agree with that policy at all as it inhibits the flow of information. Obviously there are designated individuals that are assigned to laison with groups such as this, but your getting the filtered and watered down version rather than the whole truth.

Companies probably wouldn't have to restrict employees like that if they could trust two things...
1. Employees will honor non-disclosure agreements and not publically talk about things they are not supposed to talk about.
2. Outside interests/media/etc. would not hound employees and try to trick them down a rabbit hole and accidentally give something up.
#1 can sometimes happen with trustworthy employees... but #2 is never going to happen because there is always someone who wants to know bad enough to poke and prod until lucking into an accidental leak.
I know when I worked for companies that had secret stuff going on... we were basically told just to be safe not to talk to anyone that called us about anything if the person calling was not a verifiable employee of the company. It was easier just to not say anything ever than to accidentally say the wrong thing.
And on that note... Many folks (myself included) aren't even using our real names posting on the forum. Are we "keeping secrets"? Maybe ;) But we aren't being 100% honest all the time and we aren't sharing all our secrets... so hard to blame a company for wanting to guard theirs.

Are there any BETA users on this forum? If so, do they have the rights to view channels that have not yet gone external? We don't expect E* employees to expose themselves on the forum, nor do we expect betas to do so. It is probably better that they don't, actually, as some of our more high spirited members may blame them personally for any problems (including, but not limited to PPV porn purchases showing up on their receiver that they didn't order - any issue with a software release - any feature request that goes unfulfilled - you get the picture?)
There are current E* employees here, despite any company ban. Most don't post or post innocent posts. My recommendation to those posters is to remember that unless you are paid to be here to represent the company don't risk your job and your sanity posting for the company. My recommendation to readers is not to assume that any poster is posting for the company unless they explicitly say so - and then remember that not every poster is honest (unfortunately).
I'm not an employee of E* but occasionally I will get a message from a verified employee that I can forward on. And if a verified employee wants to contact a member I and the other moderators are glad to work the role of go between.
Anyways, that explains my view on the matter ... people are free to post as they want (as long as they don't break forum rules) but I always suggest that E* employees be more cautious with their posts so they are not overwhelmed with personal criticism and requests for help.
BTW: The answer to the question (as far as I know) is that engineering boxes see all the channels not yet released. Beta boxes are not necessarily set to see channels in engineering.

How do we know that you're not a disgruntled E* employee just out to dissiminate false information? Not that it really matters, though. I'm always wary of those who jump ship and offer secrets and dirt on their former bosses. Not cool Bannon, not cool. icon_cool

Good call - I did not sign an NDA per se - but it was understood that certain things are not open for discussion. I guess honor and trust are words long forgotten in todays society - and a shame that is.

I don't think he is working for DISH any longer though ( NOT that it's OK for him to "spread" some secret info in that case ) .. - He DID say it himself:
...But now that I am away from the shackles that bind... (hehe)

The second I disclose any "secrets and dirt" on anyone or anything let me know. I suppose if anyone ever wants to strike a nerve, discuss lack of integrity.
