I had my HR20 installed, which I bought myself. Had to complain to get my free H20 receiver. Installer came to my house with no receiver, so I used my HR20. No problem. Finally got Dtv to give me the free H20. Installer came out hooked it in place of HR20. Would not install it in another room. I have two lines coming into the house. What switch or part do I need so that I may hook up the H20 in my other room? I have searched, but cannot come up with a definitive answer, please help. Thanks.

Your post is all over the place. I can't figure out what is where. You say you got a free H20 and the installer installed in place of the HR20. Then you ask what is need to connect the H20 in another room (I thought it was already connected. Where then is the HR20?. What receiver is where? Also, what type of dish do you have?(Makes a big difference) How many lines do you have in total? What is the final configuration you are looking for?
What switch or part do I need so that I may hook up the H20 in my other room? You need to add a cable running from the dish to the bedroom. Technically, there should be a grounding gizmo where the cable comes into the house. No multiswitches are needed.
I'd get on the horn with DirecTV and tell them about the swap-out. It should not have happened that way. If you press them, I'll bet that they have someone come out and fix it for you.
Such is not to say that the installer did anything wrong. His workorder may have been to swap the receivers. If it did, your beef is with DirecTV.
Do you happen to have a copy of the workorder?

Sorry my post wasn't clear. The intsaller only hooked up the H20 long enough to activate then reconnected HR20 and left. I want to connect my H20 in my other room. I only have the two wires coming into the house. Do I need to run more wires or can I use some type of splitter or switch.

What, what, WHAT? :nono: :eek2:
Ok, let me see if I got this straight.
You had a HR20 hooked up in location X
You finally get an installer out to hook up a H20 presumably at location Y.
He unhooks the HR20 at X and puts the H20 at X.
He activates the H20.
He disconnects the H20 at location X and sets it aside.
He reconnects the HR20 at X.
So now you have the HR20 back at X, and the H20 just sitting off to the side, when you wanted it at Y?
If that is true, the guy should be suspended if not fired. Call D* at tell them step by step what happened. Make sure they list it as an incomplete install. Demand (politely) that anyone but him comes out to correct the issue. It's slackers like that, that give HSPs a bad rap.
Now, this next question is not to defend the guy, but did you sign the paperwork? If so, why? If not, also let D* know that he signed your name on the workorder paperwork.
Remember, complain with facts calmly and politely.

Yep that about sums it up. My original work order showed installation only in one room. Remember that the installer who came out first did not even have a receiver to install. What a mess:grin:
Wow, that's what I thought you were trying to say! What a mess. But we still need to know what dish you have and why you only have 2 drops. The new AT9 style would give you 4 drops (if it was installed correctly) and with the install a 6x8 switch giving you 8 possible locations (or less if using dual tuner receivers). An older dish will still work, but will give you problems with local HD in the comming months.
What I don't understand is why you are paying for a sub without getting any benefit. THe H20 is costing you money but you can't watch it. So the installer leaves your house and you turn to DBSTalk to get answers. Really messed up! Thats his job and D should be put on notice.
Do I need to run more wires or can I use some type of splitter or switch.Read the first sentence of my post #3 until the answer to your post #4 becomes clear.
