View Full Version : Delete contents of folders
Is there a way to delete the contents of a folder without opening the folder and deleting each individual program in the folder? Something like a "select all" command? I have tried everything I can think of and I am stumped. I am using standard def TiVos. Series 2, RCA, Phillips, Hughes, etc.
Thanx,

Nope.
Nope.
There really should be a way to do it. On one of my TiVos I have about 75 Jeopardys recorded and will obviously not watch all of them. This happened to me a few years ago before the Folders showed up. I had about 90 Law and Orders and deleted them one at a time. When the folder showed up, I thought surely there would be a way to delete the contents of a folder in one swell foop. Oh well, I appreciate the info and will cope with deleting them one by one. The HR20 is the same way, isn't it?
Wouldn't you think more people would have something to say about this issue?

Yeah, the HR20 is the same way. It's more likely that we can influence this enhancement on the HR20, though. Nobody is working on DirecTV/Tivo DVR software anymore. And I think that even the latest standalone Tivo's still don't let you delete an entire folder.

There is a way if the HR10 is hacked. You can delete any shows you want using TivoWebPlus, but they have to be deleted individually through the web interface. You can use TyTools and select any number of shows you want and then delete them in a batch. You will only see a list of all of the shows currently in the Now Showing list and you won't see any folder structure. What you will see is the show and episode title, date it was recorded, file size, and a list of the FSIDs for that show (FSIDs are individual chunks of the recording that are 512MB in size). There is no way to delete individual FSIDs, not that you'd want to anyway, but you can extract each FSID individually if you wanted to.

I appreciate your response. Unforturnately my technological lack of knowledge prevents me from understanding your message. I was talking about an HR20, not the TiVo.
