Here's my dilemma. I just recently purchased an hdtv and wanted to get hd. I am currently under contract until december. I have a directivo r10 dvr, and 2 standard receivers. I tried to connect and ota hd antenna on my roof and connect to the zinwell multiswitch outside, then attempted to diplex the signal and connect to my hd. It does not pickup the antenna. The line I am trying to split the signal on is one of the 2 dvr tuners, not sure if this is the reason it is not working.

Can anyone give me some advice as far was what my options are. I was thinking of getting the hr20, but most people say to get local hd through ota. So any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

oh and I am ~19-20mi away from the hd station signals. Zip: 90255.

Questions to ask yourself:

Are you happy with DIRECTV today?
Can you run another coax to the main TV fairly easily?

My suggestion, if you are happy with DIRECTV overall, get the HR20 and install a 3rd coax line to the TV. That way you'd have 2 Sat. feeds plus 1 OTA feed. Split the OTA between the TV and the HR20.

That way you'd have great HD, a good becoming great DVR to record the HD, and the DIRECTV service and programming.

Good luck,
Tom
