What are animations?

In the new custmized section it has a "animations" section and gives you three options for cutmizing it I think one is number of frames and one is pages. Can anyone explain what these are? And what the animations section is?

The "Animation" settings refers to how quickly the Guide appears to scroll up or down on the page.
