Hi,

Was wondering if it is possible to cable my existing Dish 500 with my 501, and add a 2nd receiver like a 4700?

Saw some stuff on Dish's site about legacy systems versus dishpro systems.

Thanks
G

Hello spawnman, and welcome to DBSTalk! :hi:

What kind of LNB(s) do you have on your dish 500? First of all, ignore the dishpro vs legacy stuff unless you are planning to add a 721. If you have a twin lnb on your dish, all you need to do is run a second cable to where your 2nd receiver will be, plug it in and you are good to do. If you have 2 dual lnbs, you may need to run 2 more cable from your dish into an sw-21 switch, and then a cable from the switch to where your 2nd receiver will be. Those are the 2 most likely possibilities for your situation.

If you have a stylized DP on the back of your LNBF you have a Dish Pro system this would require a Dish Pro adapter for a 4700 receiver. Pro 301, PVR 501 & 508 and PVR 721 are Dish Pro systems and will work with either Legacy or Dish Pro systems. All older models are Legacy receivers and will only work with Dish Pro using a $69 adapter.
