Forcing a software update

I just activated a "new" R10 receiver today that I had purchased on eBay.

As the previous owner closed his account many months ago, this unit has not got the latest software update, and most importantly, its time is still wrong - eastern standard time rather than EDT.

I know how to force it do dial in to the DVR service, but how do I force it do a satellite service update (which is prresumably where the software updates come from, as dialing in didn't fix the problem!)

It might take a few days, but after your DVR phones home a few times it should automatically acquire and install the latest software. You might be able to speed this up a bit by forcing the "daily call" a few times. Once it says "Pending Restart" in the Call Status, then a reboot will install the new software.

What software version do you have now? 6.1a is the latest for the R10.

Currently, its 6.1-01-2-521

I guess I'll just make it force dial a few times each day, until it gets the update.

as i recall in the past this would happen on the initial call in. for whatever reason, of late this is not the case. quite annoying . . .

6.1a finally came down the phone line.... about 12 hours before the time day-light saving used to kick in!

Restart, no problems. Long live my R10!
