I'm not 100% sure but I think they are going to have 6. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

CBS had 3 last year and the previous year.
They will increase that by 1 each year until they have them all by 2009 (or 2010).
So the plan if 4 this year, 5 in 2008 and all in 2009/10. The last contact they and Fox signed with the NFL mandated all HD by 2009/10.
Hopefully they surprise us and get off their can and get more then 4.
They must have enough equipment by now as they did all the NCAA 1st round games in HD!
Living in Cleveland I need them to broadcast all in HD as they will rarely use the HD cameras broadcasting the Browns.

Yes, but the system was still imperfect WRT "flex" and "constant" feeds...many folks were stuck watching a significant amount of 4:3 upconverted game action. Upgrades to the CBS system are still needed.

No, they used the same equipment. The problem isn't cameras or trucks. The problem is the distribution system. They had lots of SD feeds during March Madness because they couldn't handle all the pieces across the country.

They can only do 3 HD feeds at once network wide. Thus the limit of 3. The only solution for them is to get more satellite back haul bandwidth.

bonscott87 is absolutely correct. I did a whole lot of homework on this issue last fall as the NFL season was getting underway. Early in the season, when teams have 'bye' weeks, there are 13 Sunday-day games. For this coming season, FOX will do 6 games in HD, CBS will do 4 games in HD and the remaining 3 games fall on the floor in SD. When the 'bye' weeks are over, then 4 games fall on the floor in SD.
I'm trying now to research and see if FOX might possibly do more than 6 HD games for this coming season. I'll keep you posted.

Backhauls are not the problem - in fact, most stadiums feed back to NYC via fiber.
The problem is the HD Sports Coordination Rooms.
Only 2 were available last season and they used 1 from the CW.
It takes 16 Outbound Networks to do a full double header weekend - They had 3 earlier last year and I believe they are at 4 HD Outbound Networks at this point with the completion of the first HD Sports Coordination Room.

NFL Network will have a few in there, too. They had 8 games last year. Not sure how many they'll have this year.

Bumping this topic because I was wondering the same thing. It looks like only one game will not be in HD during week 1 but CBS will show about 5 HD games per week after that.

CBS is doing 5-6 games in HD per week, as they announced a few months ago. The first couple weeks it's 5 but in week 3 it's been reported they are doing 6. I believe they are showing HD golf right now, thus perhaps the one less HD truck for NFL games the first couple weeks.
