Game developer Digital Leisure on Monday announced the release of "Dragon's
Lair," the first high definition video game to be offered on Blu-ray disc. If the title
sounds familiar, it's because the game is a re-released and updated version of
the 1983 arcade classic.
"I've seen the newly restored footage and it just looks amazing," said Don Bluth,
the creator of the original Dragon's Lair. "It looks even better than I can remember.
The visuals, the 5.1 surround sound audio, all I can say is 'Wow!' Now a whole new
generation can enjoy Dragon's Lair all over again."
The new version of "Dragon's Lair," which will be playable on Sony's Playstation 3,
features 1080p HD video transferred directly from the original film, a 5.1 surround
sound audio mix, and Blu-ray's BD-J Java environment for a "fully arcade-authentic
experience." In addition, the disc also includes interviews with game creators Don
Bluth, Gary Goldman and Rick Dyer, as well as full-length commentary of the game.
"Dragon's Lair" will be available starting April 9.www.TheRetailBridge.com - used with permission
