Hi All,
I was a Dish Network customer for a number of years (back in the Primestar days). I switched to DTV a few years ago because of TIVO. (I know DTV doesn't have TIVO anymore but I have 4 DTIVOs, so I'm happy).
Anyway, I was wondering. I still have my DISH 500 dish and 4 receivers. I believe one was a 422 and the rest were 322 boxes. They all work and all have remotes and access cards (with no balances). I'm just wondering if they are worth anything to anyone?
Someone in my area, has an add in the paper that he is looking for used DISH equipment, but I have not contacted him yet. If I do, I want to make sure I'm getting a fair deal.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Look at the back of your receivers. They should list the receiver model number. Make a note of each receiver number and what color card they have (blue or yellow) and post the results. Once you do that, you'll get a better response.

Also, once you have determined your model types, go on e-bay and do a search for those models under 'completed items' - this will let you see what others are getting by selling them through e-bay.

Thanks for the responses. My guess, (based on looking at ebay), is that they are not worth anything. I have a DISH 4000 and a DISH 3700 receiver. Both have BLUE cards. (From ebay it looks like yellow cards are what people want).
Any additional info would be appreciated. Thanks all.

They are old and very slow for guide information. though they will probably still work. Honest answer as a dealer is trash them they have served their purpose.:)
My 4700 was software upgraded to a 4900 several years back. Did E* do the same/similar with the 3700s?
A 3700 would be OK as for a spare/kids room receiver, similar to the 301s.
The 4000 was the 2nd tier receiver in it's day, second only to the 5000. I still have a 3000 in storage as a back-up in case I need it. IT was a good unit and never gave me any trouble. It was relegated to the bedroom when I got a 4700 for the DD output, and then retired when I got a 501 PVR, and moved the 4700 (by then a 4900) to the bedroom.
Does anyone know for sure is the 2/3/4/5000 series still works OK? I was planning to pull the 3000 out form a 4th receiver in a few years when the youngest is read for a TV in her room. (already have a DP34 switch, just need a legacy adapter).
I don't remember ever hearing that they wouldn't or that old systems wouldn't take software upgrades if they missed several versions.
This http://ekb.dbstalk.com/software.htm page shows current software for the 3000, 4000, 3700, all with 2007 release dates.

The receiver we use most of the time is the 4000. We also have two 508's, but they're only used when we want to record something or watch two different channels - otherwise they're off.
The 4000's guide only goes a few hours into the future without having to download the info. Not very user-friendly. Otherwise, it’s a fully-functional and reliable SD receiver.
