I am now getting ready to start my journey - and I promise not to disappoint any of you. Soon I will be providing all of you good little boys and girls with all the the HD goodies you have been waiting for.

Hey - in about 60 days or so - look for me up in the southern sky.

I am curious...

May you have a very couple of very quick and safe journeys:
El Segundo to Kazakhstan
Kazakstan to GTO (Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit)
GTO to GEO (Geosynchronous Earth Orbit)

and then live a very productive and long life.

Don't be surprised if I don't actually come to visit, FAA didn't approve my flight plan... :)

Cheers,
Tom

You are already late, you are supposed to be at work on 6 April. We are going to dock your pay appropriately.

Is this just a spoof or is the sat actually on its way?

To my, incomplete, knowledge, the satellite is finished or very nearly finished at Boeing's construction facility in El Segundo, CA. Then it will be shipped to Kazakhstan for mating to a Proton M rocket. Since they are currently preparing a launch for April 10 for another satellite, my guess is D10 is likely going up around May 10th-ish.

Cheers,
Tom

Here's hoping Borat isn't doing the assembly in Kazakhstan. :)

No kidding! :) In fact, I won't want him anywhere near the place!

Godspeed to you! Have a safe journey.

At this point Boeing should be finishing reviews of the tests and in the process to grant final flight certification.

Once it gets to its slot, D* and/or Boeing will run some more tests and inaugarate service. The sooner its sending broadcasts to the subscribers the sooner its making money for D*.

This is why I joined this site. Theres no other place on the web that can talk to a satellite like as if it were a human. Love it. I can't wait either! Make me proud to say I have a HR-20 and HD Plus. My friends have cable and make fun of me....but once you get going and get your slow bum of a brother going I'll have the last laugh. LOL.....I think I'm finally proud to be a nerd.

LOL.....I think I'm finally proud to be a nerd.

I was proud to be a nerd when Ogre left the Alpha Betas and became a member of Lambda Lambda Lambda. Since then, I've discovered I'm not really a nerd, but a geek instead as I have skills. ;)

Hey bro - glad your doing ok with your final check-ups. I've been hearing that you are going to leave for Russia 'pretty soon'. I know that you will have a safe journey - and are just the 'man' to get the HD revolution going in full swing.

As for me, I'm still smarting from the news that our 'cousin' NSS-8 didn't make it, and that I have been delayed for about 6 months as a result. It's like an unexpected vacation (that I don't want) - but I am also ready as can be to meet you in outer space close to the end of the year. I can't stand much more time here in the 'clean room'.

Anyhow, I get to hear from the techs what is going on with you - and it's all exciting for sure. They told me they will keep my advised of your progress, and once I'm up there with you - we will have some direct connect.

Be sure your tray table and seatback are in the locked upright position and that you turn off all electronics before takeoff. We wouldn't want you getting injured or lost along the way.

I guess you'll be bringing your own inflight entertainment for the journey!
