View Full Version : What kind of inline signal amp to use with E*?

I have to decide what to do with the following system. My best guess is an inline amp (talking to some know-it-alls at the local satellite installer)....

So i am coming here.

I have a E* Dish 500 Twin feeding to a 4700, and a 501.

I am getting low signal on that Dish (40-60 on the 110) but decent signal (75-85 on the 119). I am assuming it is the long cable run (150-200 feet) due to the fact that it has been aimed twice by two different installers and neither could do better than current signal strength:bang:. They both suggested in-line amps. BUT...neither carry them and thus, neither know what do do with them (they say). The gist is that neither will install them.

CAn I use inline amps on a E* Legacy Twin on a Dish 500, and if so, what brand is the best (Remember this is E*, not D*).

I was under the assumption that amps HAD to go between the FIRST switch and the LNB, but on a TWIN, the first switch is the TWIN itself...so what do i do?

HLP!
TIA,
Jann

I have tried the cheap inline amps and they wont work for me!
also i have run cable 300 feet and still got the same sig. as a 30 foot run.(with no amp)
for what its worth!

I have sold inline amps to one of the mods here but i can't remember which one. You just try tplace it half way between the twin and your reveiver.

$8 each plus postage

RG-11 is supposed to tolerate long cable runs better than RG-6.

You could also consider using a large multi-feed dish
(90 cm or larger). The center feed would be useable
for a Ku bird, such as T5. I'd be tempted to do this,
if I had the money.

DISHpro LNBFs (with "stacked" output) are also supposed to
tolerate longer cable runs than the legacy LNBFs.

i used( RG-6 eagle aspen) , but RG-11 would be better , that said the sig. level was same on receiver tuning bar with a 300 ' run and and a 30' run, abd say stated the sig amp showed no increase, rain fad was same with or with out amp!
