Is it possible for DirectV to block specific HD programming on an otherwise subscribed and in the clear local channel?
I think that this might be the answer to my mysterious "Searching For Authorized Content" message that I am seeing on programs that I have recorded recently. I subscribe to local programming but I do not subscribe to the HD package channels in the 70s. In this case will DirecTV also block my ability to view my local MPEG4 programming?
I know this sounds insane (at least it does to me) but this is the only reason I can think of for my "Searching For Authorized Content" message.

You don't need to subscribe to the HD Package to get your HD Locals.

Actually... I think with the changes at the beginning of March..
You may have to.
IIRC - All HD equipment users, must now subscribe to a plan that includes the HD Access "fee", to access any HD content via SAT.

Yeah, I was going to say that about the HD access fee, but I figured the OP was relatively new and would have had to pay for it.
My bad.

I hear you - but all of the evidence that I am seeing says otherwise! This morning I tuned through my locals to see which ones were blocked and this is what I found out...
I can still see my HD locals via OTA antenna just fine. And I can see my MPEG2 (SD) alternate locals just fine. But when I tune to my MPEG4 (HD) locals I get the 721 message and a blank screen.
What's the deal? Is this a new "Feature" of 0x145 ????

No... nothing new with 0x145...
They may have just started to implement the changes in the new plan rules.
Given that the month just started... maybe there was a grace period or something.

Yes, HD Access is required now for ANY hd programming.
