I joined DISH under the pretence that I would be getting a total of $20 off per month for 10 months. It took them 8 weeks to start the rebate, then they only rebated me $10 for a couple of months.

Now, they are shorting me ~$13.00 a month in rebates. I've been trying to get the issue corrected, but the CR's only committ to bringing it to the attention of the rebate company. They then credit my account for the month in question.

But this is tiring! I believe they offer these rebates to get you to join, but only the most diligent ever collect the amount promised. At this point, I'd like to go back to D* but don't want to pay the cancellation fee. I've asked them in writing to remove the committment, since I feel they've already broken our contractural committment?

Opinions?

I got my $20 rebates on my second bill which just produced yesterday. E* gave me the option to not have a contract, so of course, I don't have one. Didn't they give you this option?

No. They never gave me this option. I've asked them to remove me from the contract.

DISH doesn't dissolve contracts. Period.

Write to your State Attorney General.

They should be listed in your local phone book.

Better yet, take it to ceo@echostar.com. Someone will respond and either fix it or explain it to you.

Wow, that's actually the reason I signed up with E* over D*. D* required a 2 year commitment and $300 for their HDDVR, while E*'s HDDVR was free and did not require a commitment of any kind. I would definitely investigate why you weren't given that option.

There's two people that can drop a commitment with DISH Network. I'll give you a hint, neither of them are the CEO address or the State Attorney General. No....not the BBB either.

But, Dish will have to explain why their customer isn't getting the rebates they are supposed to get; AND, Dish will explain how they will correct the problem.

All things that a CSR cannot do.

You'll collect social security before DISH sends a response. :P Dispute turnaround time is six months.

Well, it wasn't easy, but after a couple of emails I got what I wanted. I've been assured that I will get my rebates. In addition, they cancelled my 18 month committment.

At first they sent an email stating that they would give me my rebates; however, they said "if they cancelled my committment, they would need to charge me $50, because I was given a credit of $50 to my account." I wrote them back and said "So basically you're giving me what you were supposed to be giving me from the time I signed up...... you're giving me nothing for my trouble?"

I then wrote "Yes, cancell my committment and when I see the $50 charge on my bill, I'll start looking for a new service provider!" Finally they wrote me back and said that they would cancell my committment and would not charge me $50.

This may seem petty to some, but after continually screwing up my bill for the last nine months, I feel I should have the right to cancell my service (if I choose) without being further penalized. I thought it was petty of them to threaten me with a $50 charge for cancelling the 18 month committment, when I've had to spend considerable effort to get them to follow the contract I signed 9 months ago!
