If the slots are gone what's the use of the merger now? For Charlie to have a monopoly and force all of us to use Dishnetwork?

Charlie will give up 61.5 to get the merger done. It is not exactly clear that Cablevision will be much of an competitor unless they team up with someone like Merdoch. Note they also say sell the slot and satellite.

Slight problem. Eight of the transponders on 61.5 is owned by Sky Angel, not Dish Network. Dish leases six of the transponders and provides the uplink service. Not as simple.

And Dish has all of the international programming on 61.5/148. Slight problem there too.

And I doubt that Dish or DirecTV will want to give up 101, 110, or 119.
