NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Companies involved in EchoStar Communications' stalled acquisition of DirecTV could dump the deal by Jan. 21, DirecTV's chief executive said Wednesday, as the parties continue talks with regulators to gain approval for the merger.

DirecTV and EchoStar (DISH: news, chart, profile) are now responding to concerns raised by the Department of Justice, said CEO Eddy Hartenstein, speaking at a satellite conference in Manhattan.

Note the article also mentions that the FCC will announce on Thursday if they will indeed grant the delay requested by DirecTV and Echostar.

I cannot believe they said the merged E* would have competition from pegasys in rural America.... someone better clue the reporter in soon!

I am starting to think that being a reporter now a days does not mean that you have research what your reporting on.

I think I do more research for our DBStalk.COM Video News Updates then some of these reporters do for national news wires. :rolleyes:
