I am a Dish subscriber in Philadelphia. I have a single 20" dish with a twin LNBF (I think that that's the right term for a single double-wide LNBF on the arm) connecting to a 2700 and a 3800.

I want to get HD (I already have an HD monitor) and want to end up with three receivers. I know that I'll have to pay an extra $5/mo for the extra receiver (not to mention the cost of buying the 6000 with the 8VBS, and probably the new HD card).

I think that I need new LNBFs, new or additional wiring, and new switches to do what I described above. If my minor locals were on 61.5, I'd be home free, but because I'm in Philly the locals are on 129 and my grand plan is crushed.

Given all of the above, what's the best way for me to move forward? I've asked Echostar twice, but I keep getting answers like "your locals are on 61.5" or "get HD first, then we can add your locals at no cost; otherwise we have to charge".

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

To get all 4 satellites you will probably need a sw64 and a sw21 for the 6000 to point it at the 3 sats plus 61.5. If you have the twin system you will need the dual LNBs on the 500.

The 2700 and probably the 3800 will probably need replacing as they do not have the "129 Install" option on the signal test screen.
DISH may do much of this for free. The response you got which says get HD first sounds correct. Unfortunately, it seems much of the cost burden would be in upgrading to 3 receivers with 61.5. You would need to replace the Twin with 2 dual LNBFs, add a dual LNBF dish for 61.5 and get an SW64. Then when you call dish to get the additional locals they should replace your 2 receivers and DISH 500(with a larger 3-sat dish).

Will they also replace the LNBFs and add the necessary switches? If so, would I be correct in assuming that I'd only need to add a DISH 300 pointing at 61.5 and the 6000 itself to get HD?
