I have another PC questions if anyone can help. My home pc was not and should have been plugged into a UPC (my fault) and the power went out. When the power came back on nothing. Everything else works but the PC will not turn on. I have tried other outlets and nothing. I was thinking the power supply was fried. But someone else told me that it could be my mother board. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Easiest fix is the power supply... Most likely the power supply died (had it happen lots before). Fairly cheap and easy to replace. Thats the first thing I'd try (plus if its not the power supply they are much easier to return to the store).

Power supply is the first thing to check. You can buy a power supply tester. They do not cost that much. Not likely motherboard. Are the fans running? Good Luck.

With nothing I'd definately say its the power supply. If it was the MB you should have at least a case fan spinning.

same thing happened to me. but after i replaced the old power supply i noticed that there was a fuse on it so i would check for a fuse or fuses on or near the power supply.
If you don't get any lights on the system at all and the power supply fan doesn't spin, most likely it is the power supply. It could also be the motherboard or front I/O panel (may be part of the motherboard or a separate board which plugs into the power button). If it is the front I/O panel, you might be able to get a replacement on eBay or from your manufacturer. If it is the motherboard, then you might want to consider getting a new computer.

Thanks for the input. I will check the power supply first. Hopefully that fixes it because the PC is only about 2 years old and I spent a lot of money on it (Just the PC with no monitors or anything else was about $2500). I got everything from Newegg and a friend of mine put it together and since then he has move out of state so he cannot work on it for me.

Because the unit is not over a couple of years old it is worth repleceing the mother board they are less that $200. I get all my stuff from new egg also

If PC was connected to a surge protector/power strip, make sure that's on. Then check for fuses in power supply in back of PC. Make sure switch on power supply in back is on.
