anyone ordered and HR20 from best buy online as of late? the web site always says "usually ships within 1 day" but none of the stores around me (6 in the nyc metropolitan area) always show as unavailable.

Not sure if they have any. From about mid January through the end of February they always had about 2-4 of them in the local store constantly .. now they have had none of them for several weeks. Must be in short supply.
Online ships from the warehouse;the stores may not have any in stock or may have them but they are devoured by other people who walk in to the actual store quicker than they can update their inventory
best buy's in store pickup is a joke. saturday it showed as unavailable for all stores in my area, then sunday (easter) they all had it in stock so i placed an order for in store pickup. keep in mind that no one could buy any of these that are "in stock" since all best buy stores (at least the ones here) were closed for easter. so i get an email first thing this morning saying that they are out of stock. WTF?!?! i should have learned my lesson the first 2-3 times i've been burned by their dumb system. if my order hasn't shipped by 9am tomorrow i'm going to cancel my order with best buy and order from somewhere else... anyone have any suggestions? preferably somewhere close to NY (for shipping reasons), if anyone knows of a place in the city that i can go to in person thats even better.

while robert is nice on the phone... i refuse to try to deal with them again. they gave me their word on an installation appointment that robert promised he could schedule and then they lead me on for over a week, refusing to return my calls and then finally called and said that manhattan was too far away. first of all, they are in freaking scarsdale (you would have thought i asked them to send an installer to montreal). i was going to pay them in excess of $200-250 for a simple dish alignment and they treated me like they were doing charity work or something.

If the Best Buy store only has one or two HR20's they will show as unavailable on the website. When I purchased mine I had to call the actual store to find one. One of the six stores in your area may have one in the store. When I called the manager told me the shipment was coming in the next day, and sure enough, he was right. A few phone calls and you might be in!! Best of luck

the best buy stores here are worthless as far as phone contact goes... i spent 2 hours today trying to get someone to answer the phone. i called around 8:45pm and was put on hold for 30-40 minutes (they close at 9pm). gotta love great customer service.

I mentioned in another thread about how lately none of the stores seemed to have stock of the -700. I keep wondering if they are really going to continue with the -700 or not. Why would stock be drying up all of a sudden when the -100 is now being made.
It appears to me all the 700's are being sold off and maybe dealers are waiting for the -100's. If not then it sure is a weird time of the year for demand taking over supply, especially now with two manufacturers. Crutchfield don't currently even list a dvr. Just have to wait and see I guess.

I've been to three of them in my area and none of them have had an HR20. They have the price on the shelf but there's usually another receiver sitting where it should be. I always check because I want to find an HR20-100. Maybe they're gearing up for it. It's a pretty sad display for D* there.

Do not believe anything you see on a BB website - they don't feel inclined to honor any of it - especially prices. I won't set foot in BB anymore a/c this problem. When I complained to state attorney general, they told that office to get lost too!
Maybe I'm lucky but I did an online purchase for in store pickup. One store in my area showed the HR20 in stock. I ordered it, got the confirmation email then drove over and picked it up. Not a problem. Out of curiosity I checked availability after my order. At that point they all showed out of stock.
I was a bit nervous for while when the first email said they needed to check stock. However, within 30 minutes I got another saying confirmed.
I'm glad I did. I have an HR20 and a triple lnb dish. I'm now waiting on a second visit from the installer for the slimline dish because of a botched install.
i gave them until 1pm today... called again today and the CSR said that it didn't ship yesterday b/c they were on back order until noon (even though a sales rep told me at 9am that they had hundreds of them in stock). here we are 5pm today and still no tracking number. good thing i ordered one from solidsignal at 1pm (already have a shipping number for that one). thats how customer service should be.
i tried to get bb to cancel my order at 1pm and they said they couldn't.. so i'm going to call amex and dispute the charges and then refuse delivery when it comes. solid signal gets my business. they've always came through when i needed them.
