Hey - Ever seen The Marathon Man? You know, the suspense filled John Schlesinger classic staring Roy Scheider, Lawrence Olivier and Dustin Hoffman. Yes, it is a CLASSIC 1970s film. I should know, I just watched it, having HD TIVOd it last time it was on HDNET Movies.
Unfortunately, however, I've never seen the ending. Why? Well, because the time given to Directv and TIVO by HDNET Movies is 2 hours. However, the run time of the movie (I just looked it up on IMDB.com) IS 125 MINUTES! YES!
So, thanks a ton Mark Cuban! Maybe you should skip the next Mavs game and turn the screws down there @ your little network! I am so ticked off!
So, it all goes without saying "It Isn't Safe!"
Get over it...things could be worse.
A lot worse.

I pad everything.
Now you will, too.

He's complaining that then ended the movie before it was over. I don't think he means he didn't record it long enough, which can easily be avoided.

I don't think that's the case. I saw Marathon Man a few months ago and they showed the whole thing, which I got with my padding.
When I missed the last minute or two of Rosemary's Baby on the same channel, I learned to pad everything. They showed it all, but the D* guide (for whatever reason, not blaming anyone) showed that the next program had started.
I think they should make it so the current program sends a flag to the guide so that even if it runs way over, the guide info would be correct, and thus the recording.

Bingo Paulman - I'm recording it again, with a 30 minute padding this time.

Isn't the purpose of buying DTv and their HD DVR is so you don't have to manually manage your recordings, ala a VCR?
I had to set it to record again with padding. :-(
