I have a stamd alone tivo unit and now they recently added the locals in HD here in my state (La) but it seems that on the channel guide the channels r appearing twice (1 being SD and other HD) ... my problem is ... when tivo needs to change to the channel to record something for example it's going to record something on chan 6 tivo changes to channel 6 but it changes to the HD chan rather than the SD because both chans r listed as chan 6 on the guide not 6-1 or anything like that.
any 1 have any suggestions other than to delete the channel from the channel list everytime I have somethign scheduled to record on the locals?
thanks in advance :)

I don't have Tivo, but I use a custom guide for my HR-20 [which shows all of the channels as yours]. Since I get my HD locals I've deleted [from my custom guide] all of the local SD channels that have HD also. The guide now shows local HD & OTA HD for each channel.

Problem is that Tivo doesnt record in HD so when it records the prog and its being shown in HD the program will look either blurry or the picture will be too big for the screen. I have a custom cahn lost as well but I want to try and find a way around having to delete the HD locals from my list ... b4 when I had it with the antenna they would show up as 6-1 for example now it's just plain 6 just like the SD.
and thanks for the response :)
any help wiull be greatly appreciated :)

You will porbably have to go into the Channels I Receive menus for the TiVo and remove the HD versions of the channel.

how? I mean if tivo wants to record something on channel 4 it'll change the channel to 4 but the problem is that both SD and HD locals are showing as the same on the directv guide not the tivo guide and when u press channel 4 on the key pad it'll take u directly to the HD chan ... only way to get to the SD chan is to use the guide or hit channel up or down on the remote. Tivo only knows SD chans from its list.
Any other time I've had locals in HD w/o directv they've always had a -1 next to the channel number.

Ahh... I see... I was consfused on the issue...
It is not that TiVo is tunning to channel 4... it is that when it sends 4 to the H20 (I presume)... it tunes in the MPEG-4 HD version since that is first in the guide.
There are two solutions:
1) Configure your H20 to not see the HD-MPEG4 channels at all... by telling the H20 you only have a 3LNB setup, thus it will remove the HD-MPEG4 channels from the unit (Which has the obvious side effect, of not being to use your MPEG-4 Locals)
2) To hook a non-HD receiver (Such as a D10, D11, D12) to that TiVo box.
The third solution, would be to switch to an integrated DVR product... an no longer use the SA TiVo

Yes Earl ...
thats exactly what the problem is ... looks like I'll just redo the cutom list and remove the hd locals was trying to avoid having to do that but sound slike no other solution... 300 bucks for that hd dvr is a bit expensive. Would be hard to get rid of a tivo that has 450 hrs lol.
guess it's true what they say .. cnat have yer cake and eat it lol
thanks for the help :)

Well for $5 a month, you can relatively easily add one of the SD tuners (D10, D11, D12)...
You can get one on eBay for less then $25, or even call DirecTV and maybe even get it for free.
If you have a 2nd SD input on your TV... send the TiVo over to that input.
Then as an "added" bonus, you would still have a LIVE tuner, for those Times TiVo is recording something.

That would be something to look at only problem is ... getting the wife to leanr all of it lol
will go with the removing the chans from the lst and just use the antenna for the hd reception so it'll say 4-1 and 6-1 so it wont confuse tivo.
really appreciate all the help :)
