I currently have the 6x8 feeding an R15, an H20, and two HR20s. That's 7 ports. I'm about to add two more R15s... so I'll need 11 ports.
The R15s are being shipped to me for self install. I don't really want their installers in my house again if I can avoid it.
So - can I get a 6x16 from them without paying for it? Or would they only do this with professional install?
Thanks

I don't think so. Most professional installers don't even seem to have them yet and typically use two WB68's instead of the WB616.

I don't think you will get a WB616 for free. You can try but you could probably get another WB68 for free and you could use 4 power passing splitters and hook both WB68's up.

"I have heard" that you might get your account credited for getting it yourself.
Call D* before you buy one though...

They are $130 at NewEgg.com
I got a $300 credit from DirecTV when I bought my WB616. BUT installation department I think can only give a $200 credit, I had to go pretty high up to get $300. What saved me though was that directv put it in the notes and approved that I would get the credit, when I called back in after getting the switch, they read the notes and then couldn't do the credit - not acceptable and they did work with me well, just took some doing.
But yeah, I think you could likely easily get a $130 credit on your bill for buying your own WB616.
Oh yeah, I have an international dish, which means that I can't cascade multiswitches.

I don't think "cascade" is the way, but to run them in parallel and then why can't you "just" use a fourth splitter for the international dish?

The installers I've talked to say they cascade them.
I have though run 2 WB68's with 5 spitters which works - but the installers out here don't have a clue how to do that.

So, I just purchased a WB68 and installed it myself so I can add a 2nd HR20 and a 2nd H20. Is it recommended I call D* and try to get a credit for it?

It can't hurt to call since the new equipment will be adding to D* revenue...
